Web browsers serve as our virtual entryway in the vast landscape of the digital world, allowing us to explore the internet easily. Whether searching for information, connecting with others, or enjoying multimedia content, the browser we choose plays a significant role in shaping our online experiences.

According to the calculations by the Atlas VPN team, the Microsoft Edge browser is closing in on a total of 300 million users. The browser’s number of users grew by 50 million months after ChatGPT was implemented. Despite that, Google Chrome and Safari continue to dominate the browser market share.

The number of browser users was calculated by dividing the total internet users from Internet World Stats by 100 and multiplying by the GlobalStats browser market share percentage. GlobalStats bases its browser market share on over 5 billion page views per month recorded across more than 1.5 million websites.

Our calculations are just estimates based on the information we have, while the actual number of users may be different.

Google Chrome has nearly 3.4 billion users and stands firmly as the most popular browser. Chrome’s success is due to its strong features, user-friendly interface, and seamless integration with Google services. Consistent innovation, timely updates, and support for web standards have made it the preferred choice globally.

Apple’s Safari browser reached over 1 billion users last year and this year continued to grow to 1.1 billion users. This growth can be attributed to several factors, including Apple’s strong brand loyalty, seamless integration across Apple devices, and the browser’s reputation for privacy and security.

Since April 2022, the Opera browser has grown its user number by 40%, from 109 million to 152 million users. One of the main reasons for the increase is their Opera GX browser, which has a gaming-inspired design with customizable themes and backgrounds, allowing users to personalize their browsing experience.

Firefox’s browser user number stands at about 150 million. Firefox’s popularity persists due to its commitment to privacy, robust security features, and a dedicated community of users who appreciate its open-source nature. The browser established its privacy-focused reputation and advocates for a more transparent online environment.

Tips for a better browsing experience

As the browser market keeps expanding with different options for users, it is crucial to prioritize a safer, more private, and enhanced browsing experience. To achieve this, here are some helpful tips and practices to consider:

Keeping your browser updated to the latest version is essential to ensure you have the most recent security patches and performance improvements. Developers release updates frequently to fix vulnerabilities and improve user privacy, so it is crucial to stay current.

You should review and adjust your browser’s privacy settings to enhance your online privacy. By tailoring settings such as cookie management, tracking prevention, and location sharing to your preferences, you can ensure a private and comfortable browsing experience.

For extra security and privacy when using public Wi-Fi networks, it is recommended to use a virtual private network (VPN). VPNs encrypt your internet connection and can help protect your personal data from potential hackers or unwanted observers.
