Google Search creates AI for podcast hosts

Instead of seeing all of the top search results, you can now ask Google Search to provide you with a comprehensive, AI-generated summary using the Audio Reviews feature. This AI feature uses Google Gemini models to create a short audio clip that sounds like a conversational podcast with two hosts.

It’s not ideal for basic searches like finding out when Father’s Day is, but it comes in handy if you want a detailed answer about the history and meaning of Flag Day without having to use your hands. The Audio Reviews option pulls from the first page of Google search results and compiles them into an audio commentary where two voices echo for a more interesting answer. You can also adjust the volume and playback speed from 0.25x to 2x. Audio Overviews even includes the web pages it pulls information from, allowing you to continue down the rabbit hole of Google Search.

This isn’t the first time Google has offered its Audio Overviews tool, but it was previously reserved for the NotebookLM tool. Google has expanded this feature by making audio reviews in NotebookLM more interactive, allowing you to ask questions to the AI in real time, and adding a “Deep Dive” option to make the AI focus on a specific topic. To test audio reviews as part of Google Search, you need to activate the Google Labs feature on its website.
