Telesens and TRL Space to create a satellite monitoring constellation

Telesens IT, together with the Czech company TRL Space, announces the launch of a new strategic project aimed at creating an Eastern European monitoring constellation of Constellation satellites.

This project is aimed at developing space-based remote sensing capabilities with high-resolution sensors to provide timely and complete information to the Defense Forces in the current and future conditions and to contribute to the economic recovery of Ukraine.

Joint efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s security and recovery

In October 2022, the governments of the Czech Republic and Ukraine reached a political agreement to create a defense cluster that includes space technologies. As part of this agreement, the Czech-Ukrainian space cooperation project was launched to jointly create an Eastern European monitoring constellation of satellites called Suzirya.

In a time of war, the Ukrainian Defense Forces need timely and complete information from space systems that monitor the situation at various levels – strategic, operational, and tactical – in near real time.

This project is designed to provide Ukraine, the Czech Republic, NATO countries, other Central and Eastern European countries, and the EU as a whole with high-quality information from space-based remote sensing systems. The implementation of this project will also promote innovation and development in the areas of smart agriculture, precision farming, mining, and environmental protection. It will also be useful for monitoring infrastructure and construction, which is important for the country’s sustainable recovery and economic development.

The Constellation project is led by TRL Space Systems s.r.o. on the Czech side and Telesens IT

System integration

The Constellation project is led by TRL Space Systems s.r.o. on the Czech side and Telesens IT LLC on the Ukrainian side. Both companies are system integrators of this project as part of a public-private partnership.

“We are proud to be able to make a significant contribution to Ukraine’s defense and recovery with the help of advanced space technologies,” says Eduard Rubin, Chairman of the Board of Telesens IT.

According to him, the partnership with TRL Space opens up new horizons for international cooperation in the space industry. In this project, Telesens cooperates with Ukrainian enterprises and scientific institutions, attracting innovative developments and experience in the space sector.

Telesens IT LLC is a leading Ukrainian high-tech company with more than 25 years of experience in telecommunications and complex engineering project management. It is engaged in the integration of large high-tech projects.

TRL Space Systems s.r.o. is a Czech company operating in the space industry, specializing in the integration of small satellites and probes around the world. It is the only main Czech representative in the joint Ukrainian-Czech project to create a satellite constellation.

Preparing the first satellite

The project participants work together on its implementation, conducting all the necessary research, development, capacity building, knowledge and experience exchange. This helps the project move forward. The 1st Constellation spacecraft will soon be handed over by TRL Space Systems s.r.o. to one of the structures of the Ukrainian Defense Forces by 2026, after its manufacture, launch and testing.

From the beginning of the system’s deployment and in the future, the Czech and Ukrainian parties will jointly operate the Suzirya system to meet the needs of users in the Czech Republic, Ukraine and other partners.
