Threads launches a custom feed tool

The battle over who will get all the users of X now that it has turned into a real cesspool is ongoing. Threads has just started introducing its own custom feed feature to compete with Bluesky. Custom feeds have long been a hallmark of Bluesky, and now Threads users can join the fun. Meta announced that it was testing custom feeds just last week, so those tests must have been successful. Either that or they want to stop further development of Bluesky.

Simply put, this feature allows users to pin themed feeds to the app’s home screen. This gives people the option of scrolling through additional feeds besides the algorithmic “for you” feed. This is great because the current algorithmic “for you” thread can be easily manipulated by simply posting something like “who loves cats?”.

Either way, users can create their own feed by entering keywords and clicking the “…” menu to get started. The feed will be created based on the keyword, although the toolkit allows for more detailed customization. For example, users can add specific profiles to customize each feed. Threads fans can create up to 128 custom feeds.

Threads has one significant advantage over Bluesky when it comes to custom feeds. Creating a custom feed in Bluesky is a process. In Threads, it takes a few seconds.
