Last night, the Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine’s military facilities and critical infrastructure with cruise missiles and attack drones. And during the day, they fired ballistic missiles at Kyiv.
Night attack
On the night of May 29, the enemy fired up to 40 X-101/X-555 air-launched cruise missiles from nine Tu-95MS strategic aircraft from the Caspian Sea. From the northern and southern directions, the enemy attacked with Iranian Shahed-136/131 UAVs. In total, about 35 attack drones were used.
Air defense was operating in the areas of responsibility of all air commands of the Air Force: “Center”, “East”, “South” and “West”.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 67 air targets:
- 37 X-101/X-555 cruise missiles;
- 29 Shahed-136/131 strike UAVs;
- 1 reconnaissance UAV of operational and tactical level.
Daytime attack
At about 11:30 a.m., Russia attacked Kyiv region with ballistic and cruise missiles from the Iskander air defense system.
A total of 11 missiles were fired: “Iskander-M” and “Iskander-K” from the northern direction.
Air defense forces and means destroyed all targets.
6 missile fragments fell in Obolon, Desnianskyi and Dniprovskyi districts. Also, a rocket fragment fell on the roadway in Podil district of Kyiv.
Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat noted that the enemy had planned this attack in advance, meaning that they had moved the missile launchers to the area. He also hinted that all the ballistic missiles were shot down by Patriot systems.
