NetEase Cloud Music’s HarmonyOS version has officially rolled out, bringing its music experience to a wider range of devices including phones, foldable screens, and tablets. The app, which completed its multi-terminal adaptation on September 23rd, is now available on Huawei’s HiCar system, currently in a ‘trial’ phase for in-car entertainment.

Seamless Integration into the Driving Experience

IT Home’s testing confirms that the HarmonyOS version of NetEase Cloud Music is functional on Huawei’s HiCar in-car infotainment systems. Users can enjoy music playback directly from their vehicle’s console. Key features adapted for the car environment include task flow transition, allowing for seamless switching between apps without interrupting the music, and a split-screen display for lyrics, making it easier to follow along while driving.

While the core music playback is stable, most other in-app functionalities are also accessible. This includes the ability to browse comments sections and download songs. It’s important to note that the visual display of these features may vary across different car models due to differences in screen aspect ratios and resolutions. Users should expect the interface to be optimized for their specific vehicle’s display.

A Collaborative Effort for a Connected Ecosystem

The development of the HarmonyOS version of NetEase Cloud Music is a result of deep collaboration between NetEase Cloud Music and the HarmonyOS team. An early access beta was released at the end of August, focusing on refining the core listening experience and community interaction features, ensuring they are fully compatible with the HarmonyOS ecosystem.

Huawei HiCar, a product developed by Huawei, focuses on connecting smartphones with automobiles. This technology aims to bring a seamless mobile experience into the car, integrating navigation, entertainment, and communication services. The partnership between NetEase Cloud Music and Huawei HiCar highlights the growing trend of deep integration between digital services and the automotive sector.

Huawei HiCar’s Expanding Reach

Huawei has been actively expanding the reach of its HiCar system. As of May this year, Huawei announced a significant milestone: partnerships with over 70 automotive brands. This collaboration has led to the integration of HiCar into more than 600 car models, with a cumulative installed base exceeding 40 million vehicles. This widespread adoption signifies the growing importance of connected car technologies and Huawei’s strong position in this market.

The availability of NetEase Cloud Music on Huawei HiCar represents a significant step forward in providing users with a rich and integrated entertainment experience, whether they are at home or on the road. This move underscores the potential of cross-platform development and the increasing convergence of consumer electronics and automotive technology.
