Lenovo Legion 9i can switch between 2D and 3D without glasses

The 10th generation Lenovo Legion 9i has a new design that complements its powerful specifications. The 18-inch gaming laptop can be equipped with a 2D/3D screen that switches between standard (flat) graphics and glasses-free 3D. It is available in China first, and will be available in the US “sometime this fall”. To Lenovo’s credit, this vague window is about as much clarity as an overseas company can realistically offer in this tariff-ridden climate.

The Legion 9i has an 18-inch display that supports up to 4K resolution in 2D. But thanks to a combination of eye tracking and lenses, an optional configuration supports 2K 3D without the need for special glasses. The effect works in side-by-side and top-down positions and supports 30 (as yet unnamed) games. Although it supports video, image, and data streaming in three dimensions, Lenovo offers this machine to designers who work with 3D modeling.

For 2D viewing, the laptop screen has a dual-mode feature that switches between a 240Hz refresh rate with up to 4K resolution and 440Hz with 1080p resolution. The Legion 9i has a screen-to-body ratio of 93%.

The laptop’s body is made of eight layers of aircraft-grade carbon fiber. Lenovo claims this makes it lighter and stronger than aluminum, and the forging process makes each model unique. (Just like you, champ!)

Other specs include an NVIDIA RTX 5090 GPU, Intel Core Ultra 275HX processor, 192GB of dual-channel DDR5 RAM, and an 8TB solid state drive. The cooling system combines a steam chamber and a four-fan system. Although Lenovo hasn’t announced a price yet, its specs (and the 9i’s history as a top-of-the-line device) leave no room for doubt that it will cost at least a few thousand dollars, even without taking into account whatever tariff madness we’re going to get into this fall.
