Samsung will officially unveil the Galaxy S25 Edge during its Unpacked virtual event on Monday, May 12 at 8:00 p.m. ET. This answers at least one of our many questions about Samsung’s upcoming slim phone, which the company teased back in January. A blog post published alongside today’s announcement reveals one or two more tidbits, but we’ll have to wait until Monday for the rest of the answers.
Samsung doesn’t hide what it’s announcing: it’s definitely the Galaxy S25 Edge. The name of the device immediately appears on the blog: “…not only sets a new standard for what can be achieved with a smartphone, but also ushers in a new era of growth for the mobile industry.” This would be great news for the industry, which has seen sales fall over the past few years. The blog also notes that despite its slim profile, the S25 Edge will feature a 200-megapixel primary camera, just like the top-of-the-line Galaxy S25 Ultra.

This suggests that the S25 Edge will be a more premium device than the rumored Apple slim phone. The iPhone 17 Air may feature a single rear camera and a mix of high-end and low-end features. The S25 Edge, according to Samsung, will combine “flagship-level performance with superior portability.”
So how much does a slim, flagship-level phone that’s supposedly going to disrupt the ailing mobile industry cost? And where will it be sold? Recent rumors have pointed to a delayed US launch. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the phone appeared first in South Korea, although the fact that Samsung US is offering a $50 credit to those who reserve the phone now bodes well for our prospects. At least one thing looks certain: we won’t have to guess for long. The virtual event will be streamed in many places, including Samsung’s YouTube channel.
