Apple TV app finally available for Android devices

After years of waiting, the Apple TV app is finally available on Android devices. This version was “built from the ground up” to take advantage of the Android operating system and is now ready for download from the Google Play Store. It has been designed for smartphones, tablets, and foldable devices.

This is the full version of the app, with all the features that Apple users have come to expect. There is a function to continue the show from where you left off, as well as a tool to download content for offline viewing. It works via Wi-Fi or mobile connection.

The app allows you to access Apple TV+ content, so you can finally watch a whole boatload of original shows that the platform is pumping out. It’s a veritable cornucopia of sci-fi series, including hits like Breaking Bad, The Bunker, and For All Mankind. The platform also streams non-genre series such as Ted Lasso, Shrinking, and Slow Horses. New users get a free seven-day trial of the platform. Otherwise, prices remain the same, and users can subscribe via Google Play.

The app even provides access to MLS Season Pass content, just in time for the 2025 Major League Soccer season. Fans can also watch weekly MLB doubleheaders every Friday without local restrictions.

There were workarounds for getting Apple TV content on Android devices. Previously, users had to enter credentials through a web application or use the Prime Video package. Android TVs have long had a dedicated Apple TV app, but there was no way to subscribe on the TV itself. Today that has also changed, as Google Play now offers the ability to subscribe to Android TVs.

There is no casting support in the first version of the app, but we hope it will come in a future update. The Apple TV app only works on devices running Android 10 or later.
