Updated LG QNED Evo LCD TVs will be available in May

LG’s 2025 QNED Evo line of premium LCD TVs will be available in May, following a first look at the end of 2024 ahead of CES. The flagship QNED9M model is the first quantum nanoemitter diode (QNED) TV to utilize LG’s True Wireless technology to wirelessly transmit and display 4K content, a feature previously exclusive to the company’s premium OLED TVs.

Today, LG may be best known for its OLED TVs, but the leak of wireless functionality, which it first introduced back in 2023 with the Zero Connect Box, is proof that the company isn’t forgetting its more affordable LCD TVs. LG claims that with devices such as game consoles or set-top boxes connected to this external unit, you can expect to stream 4K content at up to 144Hz without lag or loss of picture and sound quality. To the delight of clutter lovers (and who among us isn’t), the only cable you’ll need to connect to the TV itself is the power cord. It is worth noting that models with a diagonal of 55 inches and below have a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz.

The QNED Evo line is powered by the LG Alpha AI processor. The updated TVs also benefit from LG’s Dynamic QNED Color solution, which replaces quantum dot technology and delivers brighter, more realistic colors. QNED TVs combine quantum dot and nano-cell technology with a mini-LED backlight that has thousands of dimming zones. The result is a brighter picture and higher contrast than more traditional LCD panels, although it’s still a step back from OLED pixels that light up on their own.

The new AI Magic Remote that you get with your TV has a special AI button that allows you to make personalized voice requests. The built-in AI technology can also customize the TV to your personal audio and visual preferences, enhance faces and key scene elements, and play 9.1.2 virtual surround sound through the built-in speakers.

The TVs also act as smart home hubs, offering multi-platform connectivity through LG ThinQ and Google Home. AirPlay and Google Cast can be used from your iPhone or Android device.

The updated 50- to 100-inch QNED Evo models will go on sale in the U.S. next month, but pricing has not yet been announced.
