Apple has introduced the A17 Pro processor in the iPhone 15 Pro models. It surpassed the latest flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Apple is working on the A18 Pro chipset for the next generation iPhone 16 Pro. Now, a Weibo user has shared two images showing different Geekbench results that give us an idea of how much performance may change between the upcoming A18 Pro and A17 Pro.
In the first Weibo post, which has now been removed, the alleged A18 Pro scored 3,570 and 9,310 points in the Geekbench 6 single-core and multi-core tests, which is 22 and 28 percent faster than the A17 Pro. In the same single-core and multi-core Geekbench 5 tests, the A18 Pro scores 2,571 and 7,359 points, which means a 20 percent and 38 percent increase in performance, respectively, over the A17 Pro.
Now, moving on to the second position of the A18 Pro benchmark, the results are slightly closer to the A17 Pro. The upcoming chipset scored 2,822 and 8,571 points in Geekbench 6 and 2,517 and 7,359 points in the benchmark’s single-core and multi-core tests.
The Weibo user who shared the benchmark results says that the final performance remains to be seen. That’s because Apple and other companies allow their chipsets to perform to their maximum potential. OEMs then work to strike a balance between performance and energy efficiency. The Apple A18 Pro is expected to be based on TSMC’s 3nm process. It is rumored to consist of two powerful processor cores and six low-power cores.
