This year marks a significant milestone for both the Chinese Air Force, celebrating its 77th anniversary, and the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China), which is commemorating its 30th year. The 16th edition of the prestigious event is scheduled to take place in Zhuhai, Guangdong, from December 7th to 13th.
Air Force Showcases Advanced Capabilities
In a major announcement, the Air Force revealed that several of its core combat equipment will make their debut at the upcoming airshow. Adhering to a systematic approach, the Air Force’s participation will encompass both static displays and thrilling aerial performances, highlighting advancements in its main combat equipment. Attendees can expect to see a comprehensive lineup, including proven, battle-tested main combat systems, alongside newly upgraded variants and showcases of emerging combat power.
The range of equipment on display will span critical Air Force functions such as reconnaissance, early warning, air defense, support operations, airborne capabilities, and the growing domain of unmanned and intelligent systems, including advanced munitions. This extensive presentation aims to offer a complete picture of the Air Force’s continuous evolution in equipment modernization and the refinement of its operational systems.
The aerial performances are designed to mirror real combat scenarios, featuring formations and maneuvers that directly demonstrate the troops’ training proficiency and their capacity to achieve victory. These dynamic displays will present current, publicly-shareable achievements to the general public in a vivid, three-dimensional manner.
‘Digital and Intelligent Air Force’ Takes Center Stage
A notable innovation at this year’s Airshow China will be the introduction of a dedicated ‘Digital and Intelligent’ (数智) section at the Air Force’s exhibit. This new area aims to create a technologically advanced and immersive visitor experience, utilizing elements such as humanoid robots and virtual digital characters. The section will feature cutting-edge equipment for applications like AI-driven interviews, assessments for anti-vertigo brain-computer interfaces, digital maintenance, and intelligent diagnostics.
This focus underscores the ongoing development of a ‘Digital and Intelligent Air Force,’ showcasing the latest advancements in artificial intelligence applications and the collaborative capabilities of unmanned and intelligent systems. This initiative reflects a forward-looking strategy to integrate advanced digital and intelligent technologies into the Air Force’s operational framework.
The Zhuhai Airshow serves as a crucial platform for China to display its advancements in aviation and defense technology, bringing together industry leaders, military representatives, and the public to witness the nation’s progress in these vital sectors.
