The enterprise Solid-State Drive (eSSD) market experienced a significant surge in the second quarter of 2026, with the top five overseas NAND flash manufacturers collectively achieving 37.588 billion USD in revenue. This represents a remarkable quarter-on-quarter increase of 103.6%, according to the latest research from TrendForce (集邦).

Key Drivers for eSSD Growth

The robust growth in eSSD revenue is attributed to several key factors expected to drive demand in the coming quarters. TrendForce anticipates that the artificial intelligence market will see accelerated adoption of agent-based services in the third quarter of 2026. Simultaneously, cloud service providers are expected to continue their steady deployment of data center infrastructure. Furthermore, the large-scale shipment of NVIDIA’s GB series server racks is poised to significantly boost the demand for enterprise-grade SSDs, maintaining their high consumption levels.

Market Share Dynamics

Analyzing market share, TrendForce noted a notable increase in Micron’s (美光) eSSD revenue contribution in Q2 2026 compared to the previous quarter. Conversely, SK hynix (SK海力士) experienced a decline in its market share. This shift is largely explained by Micron’s substantial increase in shipments of high-capacity products based on G8 (232-layer) QLC NAND technology. The adoption of this advanced technology has allowed Micron to capture a larger portion of the market during this period.

Future Outlook

The sustained high demand for eSSDs is projected to continue, fueled by the ongoing expansion of AI services and the critical infrastructure needs of data centers. The increasing complexity and data requirements of AI applications necessitate high-performance, high-capacity storage solutions, making eSSDs indispensable components. The continued innovation in NAND flash technology, such as the advanced 232-layer QLC by Micron, is expected to further drive market growth and performance improvements.

The market’s trajectory indicates a strong reliance on enterprise SSDs to power the next generation of computing and data services. As AI capabilities become more integrated into various business operations and cloud infrastructure continues its expansion, the demand for reliable and high-speed storage will remain a paramount concern for technology providers and consumers alike.
