Xiaomi has re-entered the tablet market with the launch of the Xiaomi Pad 5 series. Since then, the company has released several models, all of which have large displays.
The screens of these devices have a diagonal of at least 11 inches, with the exception of the Redmi Pad with a slightly smaller 10.65-inch panel. There is also a model with a huge 14-inch display (Xiaomi Pad 6 Max 14).
Almost three years after returning to the tablet category, the company may finally debut a small-screen tablet.
Recently, several Xiaomi executives hinted at the launch of an 8-inch tablet on Weibo. This is the first time we have heard about such a product from the company.
So the device is most likely under development, if it actually exists. It should appear in the HyperOS code base when firmware builds are ready.
And when Xiaomi considers it ready to enter the market, the product must be certified by regulatory authorities. That’s when we’ll be able to learn more about this tablet.
At the moment, all we can say is that Xiaomi is only considering the possibility of releasing a mini-tablet. We can only wait for this plan to be realized.
For those who don’t know, all previous Xiaomi tablets had an 8-inch display, except for the Mi Pad 4 Plus. So a tablet with a small screen will not be a completely new product from Xiaomi.
It’s just that 8-inch used to be the standard size for tablets with huge bezels. But now, with minimal bezels, these tablets fall into the category of small or mini-tablets. The Apple iPad mini continues to be the best and only small-screen tablet available in the world.
