ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra debuts as a rebranded ROG Phone 8 with minor differences

ASUS has introduced the Zenfone 11 Ultra smartphone. This is a rebranding of ROG Phone 8, which debuted in January this year. However, there are a few minor changes in the latest flagship offering from the Taiwanese brand. The company also seems to be moving away from the compact flagship label, unless ASUS announces a standard version of the Zenfone 11 in the future. Read on to find out what the newly announced device offers out of the box.

ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra has a flat frame with a square camera island and lines on the bottom half of the back. Obviously, there is no ROG branding on it. On the right side are the volume rocker and power buttons. The latter serves as a fingerprint scanner and also supports ASUS’ proprietary scroll gesture function. The device is protected against dust and water according to the IP68 standard.

The ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra features a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. It offers a peak brightness of 2,500 nits and supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision. The front panel has a centered notch that houses a 32-megapixel front-facing camera for taking selfies.

On the front optics panel, ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra has a triple rear camera. They consist of a 50-megapixel main sensor with OIS and Gimbal support, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 32-megapixel telephoto lens. In terms of sound, the smartphone is equipped with stereo speakers tuned by Dirac and supports Hi-Res audio and Qualcomm aptX lossless audio.

Under the hood of the ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. It has up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. There is a heat dissipation system on board. The smartphone is powered by a 5500 mAh battery with support for 67W and 15W wired and wireless charging. The device’s connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and more.

The price of the ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra is 999 euros for the basic 12 GB + 256 GB version. The higher 16GB + 512GB configuration costs €1,099. The smartphone is available in Skyline Blue, Eternal Black, Misty Grey, and Desert Sand colors.
