Threads will notify you when posts are downgraded

Threads will finally start providing users with more information about when their accounts have been penalized for breaking the rules. Meta is bringing its Account Status feature to Threads, which will allow users to see when a company has deleted or demoted posts or issued other penalties.

This change adds a much-needed level of transparency to Threads, which already has a recommendation algorithm that can be difficult for authors to understand. Earlier this year, Meta reversed course on whether it would recommend political content to Threads users, after trying to limit posts about elections and other “social” topics last year.

Similar to Instagram (and Facebook), account status allows Threads users to view the “actions” that Meta has taken on their account. It shows whether a post has been deleted, made less visible in other users’ feeds, or been deemed unrecommended by Meta. It also shows whether a user has been blocked from accessing certain features for violating the platform’s rules.

If Meta has taken action against your account for some reason, you can also file an appeal in the Account Status section. The company says it will notify users as soon as their report is reviewed.

Account status is being rolled out now and can be accessed from the Account section in the Threads settings menu.
