Apple is launching a new global playlist, the Viral Chart, in Apple Music, which consists of tracks found by users through the Shazam service. The playlist, which is updated daily, features the top 50 songs that people have heard in the real world and listened to through Shazam. You can also view the charts on the Shazam website.

According to David Emery, who works for Apple Music in the UK, the playlists use “Shazam data to offer a comprehensive overview of the most popular songs around the world,” David Emery tells Threads. Emery notes that the charts display songs that go viral on Shazam in “real time” and then rank them based on “weekly growth in Shazam play volume.”

At the time of writing, the list of the most viral songs includes Shake It To The Max (FLY) [Remix] by Moliy, Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now by Starship, and Hot Together by The Pointer Sisters. On Shazam’s website, you can view the rankings by country if you wish.
