Samsung begins working on Galaxy S24 FE

Samsung debuted its top-of-the-line Galaxy S24 series of smartphones back in January. Now the company is likely preparing to introduce its next foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z series, as well as several other products: the Galaxy Tab S10 series, the Galaxy Watch 7 series, and Galaxy Ring wearables.

It seems that Samsung is also working on an FE smartphone as part of the Galaxy S24 series. Although there is little information about this smartphone at the moment, GalaxyClub, a reliable source of Samsung leaks, has reported that Samsung is preparing a new smartphone codenamed R12.

Following the example of previous FE models (S20 FE – R8, S21 FE – R9, S23 FE – R11), we can assume that R12 is the Galaxy S24 FE. The codename R10 was allegedly assigned to the Galaxy S22 FE, but it was never released.

Apart from the codename, we don’t know much about the S24 FE. In contrast, there were a lot of leaks about the S23 FE around this time last year. This could mean a possible delay in the launch of the S24 FE.

Samsung released the Galaxy S23 FE in October last year. So, given the current stage of development of the S24 FE, a November or later launch seems more likely.

Specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE

Since we don’t know much about the Galaxy S23 FE, let’s quickly recap its specifications. The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC in the US and the Samsung Exynos 2200 SoC in other countries. These processors are paired with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB of storage.

The front panel features a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. Out of the box, the smartphone runs Android 13 based on One UI 5.1 (upgradable to Android 14) and is equipped with an in-screen fingerprint sensor for security.

The device comes with a 4500 mAh battery that supports 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.

In terms of cameras, the S23 FE has a 10-megapixel front-facing camera and a triple camera setup on the back: 50-megapixel (main, with OIS) + 12-megapixel (ultra-wide-angle) + 8-megapixel (telephoto, with 3x optical zoom).

Other key features of the device include dual speakers and an IP68-rated case.
