NIO announced today the official completion of its extensive “Silk Road” battery swap route, a significant expansion of its electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The company has declared this new route as a “10,000-mile journey across the Tianshan Mountains,” highlighting its impressive reach.
Extensive Network for Seamless Travel
The newly completed “Silk Road” route spans an impressive 3,605 kilometers and is supported by 33 battery swap stations. This development means that NIO users can now depart from any NIO battery swap station nationwide and travel all the way to every provincial-level administrative region in mainland China, relying entirely on battery swapping for power. This signifies a major step towards eliminating range anxiety and facilitating long-distance electric travel.
NIO’s Growing Infrastructure
As of today, NIO’s comprehensive charging and swapping infrastructure across China includes a total of 9,431 stations. This network is comprised of 4,125 battery swap stations and 5,306 charging stations, which are equipped with 30,594 charging piles. The company has facilitated over 120 million battery swaps to date, demonstrating the robust demand and utility of its innovative battery-as-a-service model.
