The team of the Ministry of Digital Transformation met for the first time with the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, who arrived in Kyiv. The meeting was also attended by U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink.

“We discussed digitalization, presented our Diia app, which already has 20+ million users, and talked about the Mriya educational app that we will launch soon,” says Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.

According to him, digital transformation brings revolutionary changes. In particular, customs and tax authorities need them, where there are already developments and pilot projects.

Car customs clearance in Diia

Ukrainian customs needs digitalization. That’s why the Ministry of Digital Transformation started with the car customs clearance procedure. Now MPs have submitted a second draft law to the Verkhovna Rada.

The developers plan to transfer the process to Diia and automate it, eliminating the human factor and corruption risks. So we hope for a positive decision in the session hall.

e-Excise: electronic excise stamps and the system of alcohol and tobacco circulation

An important project with a powerful anti-corruption effect. The introduction of e-excise will increase budget revenues by de-shadowing excisable alcohol and tobacco. It will also bring Ukraine closer to Western tax standards.

In general, the Ministry of Digital Transformation is working on the digitalization of the customs, tax and judicial sectors. Digitalization eradicates corruption and makes all processes transparent and accountable.

“This is also a priority for our American partners. It is important for us to build win-win relationships: for the US not only to allocate funds for Ukraine’s needs, but also to help attract investments from private companies. For this purpose, it is necessary to create favorable conditions, such as an open market, transparent tax and customs systems,” adds Fedorov.

The meeting also discussed the production of UAVs. Mykhailo Fedorov presented the results of the Drone Army to Victoria Nuland and US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink.
