Microsoft has stopped offering an update to Windows 11 version 24H2 on computers that have certain Ubisoft games installed, Bleeping Computer reports. The company took this step after complaints that Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed games crashed after installing the new Windows update.
Last night, Microsoft confirmed the “compatibility suspension” in a status update and said it was working with Ubisoft to resolve the issue. In the meantime, the company recommends not installing the Windows 11 24H2 update manually.
Games that may be affected
After installing Windows 11, build 24H2, you may experience problems with some Ubisoft games. These games may be unresponsive at startup, loading, or during active gameplay. In some cases, users may experience a black screen. The following games are affected:
– Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
– Assassin’s Creed Origins
– Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
– Star Wars: Outlaw
– Avatar: Pandora’s Box.
Microsoft writes that Ubisoft has released a temporary fix to address crashing issues in Star Wars Outlaws, but says players “may still experience some performance issues.”
