LUN.Misto is preparing a map of the Internet that works during blackouts

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and LUN.Misto signed a memorandum on joint work on the Internet map during long power outages. The map will contain data on providers that provide Internet during blackouts of up to 72 hours. The project will soon be available to Kyiv residents.

“Telecom companies are actively switching to blackout-resistant technologies and backup power to keep people online during long blackouts of up to 3 days. We continue to work with partners to create a map of the Internet during blackouts. Ukrainians will be able to easily find such providers in their homes or nearby and stay connected,” said Valeriia Ionan, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for European Integration.

On the map, Ukrainians will be able to find the nearest Internet provider that has switched to energy-saving networks using xPON technology. They can immediately get contact information and, if necessary, apply for a connection.

The map will be regularly updated and supplemented with information about companies using xPON technology.

In addition, the site will inform people about various technologies that allow them to be online without electricity and how long they last.
