In cooperation with the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” (NTU “KhPI”), lifecell has launched a training project for students to help them gain practical skills in the field of Data Science. As part of the project, students are working on a real-world task – developing an algorithm for automatic segmentation of lifecell subscribers.
The team consists of third-year students of the Department of Computer Modeling of Processes and Systems at the Institute of Computer Modeling, Applied Physics and Mathematics. They work under the guidance of lifecell mentor Oleksiy Trepov, a data management strategy expert at the Business Intelligence Department.
Students use the Python programming language and the Scikit-learn library to analyze data. They also gain experience in the key aspects of data processing: collecting and preparing data, selecting the optimal classification model, training and testing the model, and calculating metrics to assess the quality of the algorithm.
The project will run until December 2024 and culminate in the defense of the final paper. Classes are held in the format of regular bi-weekly meetings, where the team and mentor discuss progress, resolve technical issues and determine the next steps.
This initiative is part of lifecell’s strategic partnership with Ukrainian educational institutions aimed at training highly qualified specialists in the fields of information technology, data analytics and telecommunications.
