Kyivstar to purchase mobile communication systems for air defense

Kyivstar helps to purchase mobile communication systems for air defense

Kyivstar is allocating UAH 50 million to the army’s competent assistance fund “Come Back Alive” as part of the joint initiative “We Live Here: Mobile Communication Systems for Air Defense”. The funds will be used to purchase integrated hardware communications systems for the South Air Command.

The goal of the project is to provide the defenders with ten integrated communication systems and necessary equipment worth a total of UAH 65 million.

Supporting the defenders

“Kyivstar continues to systematically support the society and our defenders. Realizing the critical importance of communication, we decided to support the Air Force with reliable equipment that ensures communication in their work. The company’s contribution is the first part of the announced UAH 100 million of assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the cyberattack,” said Oleksandr Komarov, CEO of Kyivstar.

The project can be supported by mobile subscribers by activating the Help for the Armed Forces Superpower, and thus up to UAH 50 from the tariff plan will be used to strengthen the Air Force starting April 1. Contract subscribers and all those who care can make a contribution to the project.

Integrated hardware connections

Complex Hardware Communications (CHC) are specially equipped four-wheel drive trucks developed by the Foundation and the Air Defense Forces that help coordinate and organize communications between air defense units. They can be used as command-and-control vehicles that receive information about danger from the air and transmit it to combat units that destroy enemy targets in seconds.

Each truck has three full-fledged workstations and is equipped with secure communication systems, computers with special software, monitors, cables, routers, and switches.

“The complex hardware communications that we, together with Kyivstar, will hand over to the South Air Command will be used by the units, in particular, as command and control vehicles,” said Oleh Karpenko, Deputy Director of the Come Back Alive Foundation.

According to him, the KAZs have everything they need to ensure uninterrupted communication in air defense units covering the skies of Kherson, Odesa, Mykolaiv, and partially the skies of Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Kirovohrad regions.

The project will continue until the target amount of UAH 65 million is reached.
