Great news for early adopters of Apple’s latest foldable, the iPhone Duo! Originally slated for later this year, Apple Pencil support is now arriving sooner than expected, powered by the upcoming iOS 27.2 update.
Apple Pencil Support Arrives Early for iPhone Duo
When Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo last month, the company announced that Apple Pencil support would be coming to the foldable device later in the year. Many speculated that this might mean a wait until November or December. However, a recent report from 9To5Mac, citing X platform user Max Weinbach, indicates that the functionality is already live for users who have installed the Release Candidate (RC) version of iOS 27.2.
This means that those who managed to get their hands on the initial release of the iPhone Duo might only have to wait a few more days to unlock this new capability. The early rollout suggests Apple is prioritizing the integration of stylus support for its innovative foldable.
Important Compatibility Note: Apple Pencil (USB-C) Only
It’s crucial for potential and current iPhone Duo owners to note that the device will only support the Apple Pencil (USB-C) model. Older or different stylus models, such as the Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil 2, will not be compatible with the iPhone Duo. This specific requirement ensures optimal performance and integration with the device’s hardware and software.
The inclusion of Apple Pencil support is a significant move for Apple’s foldable lineup, potentially enhancing productivity and creative workflows for users. This feature could make the iPhone Duo a more versatile tool for tasks ranging from note-taking and sketching to precise content editing.
As users update to iOS 27.2, they can look forward to a more interactive and precise experience with their iPhone Duo, leveraging the familiar capabilities of the Apple Pencil (USB-C).
