HP brings Snapdragon chips to more affordable laptops

HP is bringing much-needed power to its OmniBook 5 Series line of laptops. At Computex 2025, HP debuted the laptops, which feature Qualcomm Snapdragon X and X Plus chips for better energy efficiency and performance. The 14-inch version of the new OmniBook 5 series starts at $799, while the 16-inch variation costs at least $849.

Previously, if you wanted the benefits of the Snapdragon chip in an HP laptop, you had to buy the more expensive OmniBook X variants, which cost at least $1,000. Now there are more affordable options from HP that still have the benefits of ARM processors. The OmniBook 5 series may not be as powerful as the OmniBook X, but it still has access to Copilot+ artificial intelligence features like Recall, Click-to-Do, and an improved Windows search experience.

And all this in a laptop with a 2K OLED display that has a 34-hour battery life and charges to 50 percent in 30 minutes. If the laptop’s single display isn’t enough, the OmniBook 5 can be connected to one 5K external monitor or two 4K displays. For virtual meetings, HP’s latest laptops feature a 1080p infrared camera, which, paired with Audio Boost 2.0, provides better sound quality and noise reduction using artificial intelligence.

HP announced that the 14-inch OmniBook 5 with Snapdragon processor will be available initially on Amazon and Microsoft starting in June. In July, the 14-inch OmniBook 5 will be available on HP’s own website, Best Buy, and Costco. The 16-inch version will also be available in July directly from HP and its retail partners.
