How much does it cost to create an Apple Vision Pro? Not as much as you might think

Apple’s new popular augmented and virtual reality headset, Vision Pro, costs from $3,500. Analysts estimate that the actual production cost of the headset, including all its components, is about $1,500. This means that Apple takes a fairly large margin, but let’s look at it.

The most expensive components are the fashionable displays, one for each eye, costing about $456 each. Next are powerful chips, one for general processing and the other for processing all the data from the camera and sensors.

And here’s the catch: that’s just the cost of the parts. Apple spends much more on research, development, marketing, and other hidden costs. In addition, it is a relatively new product with a small production volume, so the price should cover these initial investments.

Remember, this is only the first generation. As the technology develops and production increases, we may see the price drop in the future. So, is Vision Pro worth the high price? It depends on how badly you want to experience advanced AR/VR technology and how deep your pockets are. The company already charges a fair (or unfair, depending on how much you have) amount of money to replace parts of the headset – let’s hope future generations of the device won’t be as heavy.
