Apple is working on two new versions of Vision Pro

Apple has not abandoned its plans to release a cheaper Vision Pro headset, which were previously rumored, Bloomberg reports. Mark Gurman reports in this weekend’s Power On newsletter that the company is developing two new models: one lighter and cheaper than the first-generation headset and one that could be connected to a Mac computer. According to Gurman, Apple once considered AR glasses, but then moved the idea to Vision Pro to “create an ultra-low latency system for streaming data from a user’s Mac display or for connecting to high-end enterprise applications.”

However, Apple’s ultimate goal is reportedly to create augmented reality glasses that are practical and comfortable enough to be worn like regular glasses, and the next iterations of Vision Pro are seen as steps toward achieving that goal. Gourmet reports that Apple CEO Tim Cook is “hell-bent on creating an industry-leading product before Meta does.”
