Following the leak of live images and renders that demonstrate the UWB antenna, Google recently filed an application for approval of four device models with model numbers G8HHN, GKV4X, G6GPR, and G576D with the FCC, or Federal Communications Commission. On the other hand, real images of the Google Pixel 8a retail box have already appeared on the Internet. The box reads “Model: G6GPR”, which is one of the model numbers that have been approved by the FCC.
If you are interested in the other three model numbers, Google usually develops different phone models based on the hardware requirements in different regions, such as the 5G mmWave antenna. It is noteworthy that in the authorization documents, the different model numbers are listed as different versions of the same phone.
The last two generations of affordable Pixel devices were released in May. So, we can expect the Pixel 8a to appear within the next few months.
At the same time, we also have the dimensions of the device, which are 152.0 x 73.0 x 9.0 mm. Compared to last year’s Google Pixel 7a, it is only 0.1 mm wider, and the rest remains exactly the same.
In the leaked retail box image, we see the familiar design of the camera module, which seems to be slightly thicker, with slightly more rounded corners compared to the Pixel 7a. This phone is expected to be powered by a downgraded version of the Tensor G3 chip, which previously appeared on Geekbench with scores of 1218 and 3175 for single-core and multi-core processors, respectively. The phone will have the same 6.1-inch display with a refresh rate of 90 Hz and will be available in four color options.
