Google Pixel 8 Pro can now track body temperature

Google has just unveiled the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro in the new Mint color. Now, thanks to the latest Pixel Feature Drop update, we’ve got new functionality for the older model. The Pixel 8 Pro has finally received the long-awaited human body temperature tracking feature.

Tracking body temperature in Google Pixel 8 Pro

The search engine giant released this biomonitoring support in the latest Pixel Feature Drop update. Google Pixel 8 Pro is capable of reading human body temperature. According to official reports, this is a “medical device feature,” so it could receive official FDA approval. In the latest update, Pixel 8 Pro users have access to the Thermometer app to measure their forehead temperature.

This app even allows you to save these results to your Fitbit profile for better health tracking. The brand claims that this feature can offer accurate body temperature readings, although this claim has yet to be confirmed when compared to a medical thermometer. The sensor can measure a person’s body temperature using infrared radiation emitted by the product and can perceive heat from 200 degrees Celsius to -20 degrees Celsius.

Keep in mind that it is still not clear whether this feature is completely accurate for humans. In other words, you should not replace your smartphone with real thermometers for any medical use. That’s all the information we have at the moment, so stay tuned for more on this issue.
