Lenovo launches 5G tablet M20 with MediaTek Kompanio 900T processor

Earlier this week, Lenovo quietly introduced the K11 tablet in Japan. The company continued this low-key approach with the launch of another tablet, the Lenovo M20 5G, in China.

The M20 5G is a mid-range tablet with a high-resolution display and 5G connectivity, among other features. Let’s dive into the details about it.

Lenovo M20 5G review

The M20 5G has a 10.4-inch LCD screen with a 2K resolution (1200 x 2000 pixels). However, it has a surprisingly low brightness level of just 280 nits.

Under the hood, the tablet is powered by a MediaTek MT8791 processor, also known as the MediaTek Kompanio 900T.

This chipset, announced in 2021, is aimed at sub-premium tablets. It is built on TSMC’s 6nm process technology and includes an octa-core processor (2 high-performance Arm Cortex-A78 cores and 6 efficient Arm Cortex-A55 cores), as well as an Arm Mali G68 GPU and MediaTek APU.

The tablet comes with a variety of memory and storage options: 6GB, 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.

A notable feature of the M20 is its support for 5G networks, which Lenovo claims can deliver speeds of up to 1 Gbps and low latency of 1 ms. You also get WiFi(5) support with a peak speed of 866 Mbps.

Other key features include a dual camera with 13MP and 8MP sensors on the back, four high-quality speakers, and a 7200mAh battery. Lenovo claims that the battery can last 8 to 10 hours and supports charging from the mains.

Price and availability

Lenovo M20 5G is now available for purchase in China via JD.com. The price starts at 2399 yuan for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage model. The 8GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB versions cost 2799 yuan and 2899 yuan respectively.
