Anthropic has announced that its Claude artificial intelligence can integrate with Google Workspace. This integration allows the AI assistant to access any information in Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Calendar. Enterprise customers even get a special cataloging option for Docs, which aims to offer even greater speed and accuracy when searching for information.
This update can make Claude more useful when it comes to using the chatbot for scheduling or accessing information in the Google ecosystem. The announcement blog post states that the Enterprise option comes with special security controls to ensure privacy, but does not indicate whether and how other users will be able to prevent Claude from accessing sensitive information that may be stored in an email or document. Google Workspace integration is available in beta for all paid Anthropic customers.
Anthropic is also adding an Explore feature. Queries in this mode are designed to provide in-depth answers to queries that “automatically explore different aspects of your question and systematically work through open-ended questions.” Claude’s answers in Research mode will include citations for fact-checking. Anthropic says this feature can be combined with Google integration to analyze information stored in different places, such as notes on complex work or school projects. The research is available in the US, Japan, and Brazil as an early beta for Max, Team, and Enterprise users.
