Apple is said to be preparing significant improvements to iPadOS that could bring it closer to macOS. According to Mark Gurman in the Power On newsletter, Apple’s iPadOS 19 will “focus on productivity, multitasking, and app window management – with an eye toward making the device work more like a Mac.” It won’t be quite macOS for iPad, but Gurman notes that “the changes will likely go far enough” to satisfy those users who want more from their tablet software.
It is expected to arrive later this year. Most likely, we will hear about it at WWDC 2025, which Apple has scheduled for the second week of June. Rumor has it that iOS and macOS will also see major changes this year, as previously reported by Gurman. All of this reportedly comes as part of Apple’s drive to make its software more consistent across all of its devices.
