Apple’s Vision Pro AR headset didn’t take off quite as expected. However, the company is not going to give up. Here’s a breakdown of what’s happening with Vision Pro and what’s ahead, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman:
- Apple is actively working to integrate its artificial intelligence technology, known as Apple Intelligence, into the headset’s AR interface (visionOS). This is expected to improve the overall user experience for headset users.
- Apple is updating its in-store demos to provide users with a more complete picture of the product. The new “Go Deeper” option allows potential buyers to test out features such as office applications and video viewing. Vision Pro users will also soon be able to view their own videos and photos, including panoramas, using the headset. This feature is expected to be further enhanced with the upcoming visionOS 2 update and its “spatialize” option, which can turn 2D photos into 3D images.
- Rumors indicate that Apple will focus on developing a more affordable headset, which is expected to be released by the end of next year. The details are still vague, and conflicting reports suggest either lower-resolution displays for the Vision Pro’s successor or a complete shift in focus toward this budget option.
The biggest challenge seems to be balancing cost with the high-resolution displays currently offered in Vision Pro. While it’s too early to say that Vision Pro is a dead end, Apple will likely introduce a more affordable version of the headset. We will find out about it soon!
