Ukrposhta deployed 1800 mobile offices near the front

In the frontline areas, Ukrposhta (Ukrainian National Post) has deployed 1,800 mobile offices to improve the delivery of payments and parcels. The company is optimizing logistics, so it ended 2023 with net revenue from sales of goods and services of UAH 11.9 billion (USD 314 mln). This is 19% more than in 2022 (USD 263 mln).

This was stated by Ihor Smilyansky, CEO of Ukrposhta.

“In 2023, the number of parcels sent increased by 40%. It’s also worth mentioning the 15 million parcels that Ukrposhta and Ukrzaliznytsia transported together – this is a convenient and effective collaboration between two state-owned companies,” he said.

Укрпошта закінчила 2023 рік з чистим доходом від реалізації товарів та послуг на 11,9 млрд грн. Це на 19% більше, ніж у 2022 році (10 млрд).

Setting up logistics

A major wartime achievement is the establishment of air service with the United States. This is important for Ukrainian entrepreneurs. After all, even during a full-scale war, more than 1 million Ukrainian goods are successfully sold on American marketplaces.

The acceptance of loan agreements with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for EUR 63 million and the European Investment Bank for EUR 30 million was important for many processes.

“In particular, it is thanks to the EBRD funding that in 2023 we were able to build a reliable logistics network covering 100% of Ukraine. This means that Ukrposhta will be able to go through this winter with dignity and provide modern digital services under any conditions, with or without connection, thanks to the purchased generators and Starlink for branches and sorting centers,” the CEO said.

Mobile branches

Today, there are 1,800 mobile branches in Ukraine that deliver the necessary payments, goods and parcels to the frontline areas. They make it possible to quickly deploy branches in the liberated territories and resume operations there.

This is important, among other things, for the payment of pensions and utility bills. Currently, Ukrposhta is responsible for 20% of utility payments.

Digitalization and robotization

Ihor Smelyansky identified digitalization as one of the main areas of work for 2024. According to the Ukrposhta CEO, 100% of Ukrainian cities and villages are planned to be covered by digital services next year. The relevant software is being finalized.

It is planned that in 2024, 100% of users’ parcels will be sorted automatically using robotic sorting lines, which should significantly affect the quality and speed of delivery. The company also plans to complete the transition to a “paperless” format.
