LG shows wireless transparent OLED TV at CES 2024

LG Electronics is unveiling the world’s first wireless OLED TV at CES 2024.

The LG Signature OLED T is a true technological marvel that combines a 4K transparent OLED screen with LG’s wireless video and audio technology to create an incredible screen experience in a way that was never possible before.

This is complemented by the superior image quality and performance of LG OLED, equipped with the new α (Alpha) 11 processor with artificial intelligence. LG’s transparent OLED display has won five CES 2024 Innovation Awards, including Best of Innovation.

Freeing up space

The LG Signature OLED T frees users from a dominant black screen that competes with the décor in their home. While maintaining a 77-inch screen diagonal, OLED T and its innovative transparent display blend seamlessly into the environment.

Virtually invisible when turned off, it blends in with its surroundings and frees users from the age-old problem of what to do with the “big black screen”. In addition, the magical transparent TV screen also helps to make the space look bigger, creating a sense of openness.

The unique LG OLED T brings with it many new possibilities, from where it can be placed in a room to the user experience that LG has to offer.

Its transparent OLED screen eliminates the typical limitations of conventional TVs. You no longer have to place your TV against a wall. Instead, place the OLED T in the middle of the room to act as a partition, or place it against a window without blocking the view outside.

Contactless

The included LG Zero Connect Box uses advanced wireless transmission technology to send 4K picture and sound to the OLED T, and allows users to place the TV anywhere, regardless of where the electrical outlets are located in the room.

With no cables between the Zero Connect Box and OLED T, users can enjoy a clean, cable-free viewing environment.

What’s more, LG OLED T’s modular design facilitates a variety of installation options. The OLED T can be positioned in several ways, against the wall or on the wall. Customers can add racks or floating shelves on one or both sides of the screen to best follow their unique tastes and preferences.

Content on the air

LG’s transparent OLED display allows owners to discover new entertainment and uses through dual viewing: transparent and opaque. OLED T becomes a transparent digital canvas to showcase artwork, videos or photos with Always-On-Display (AOD). The content displayed on the transparent screen appears to float in the air, but at the same time blends in with the surrounding space, creating a compelling and atmospheric visual effect.

Another use case is the T-Bar feature, which offers a useful information bar running along the bottom of the screen. The T-Bar displays news alerts, weather updates, or the name of the songs being played, while the rest of the screen offers a clear, unrestricted view of the space behind it.

Improved quality

To view images with a perfect OLED display, simply press the button to increase the screen contrast. This way, users can instantly switch to take full advantage of LG OLED’s improved picture quality thanks to the new α (Alpha) 11 AI processor with 4x the artificial intelligence performance.

It delivers up to 70% better graphics performance and 30% faster processing than its predecessor. The OLED T offers the best of both worlds, with both a transparent and colorful screen experience at the touch of a button.

“An incredible leap of innovation focused on consumers, LG SIGNATURE OLED T offers a completely new screen experience, as well as the picture quality and performance of our award-winning OLED technology,” said Park Hyun-sei, President of LG Home Entertainment Company.

In his opinion, LG’s transparent OLED display gives customers more freedom in managing their living space, completely redefining the possibilities and pointing the way to an exciting future for the TV industry.
