Hackers attacked Kyivstar's communication network

Specialists of CERT-UA, which operates under the State Service for Special Communications, together with colleagues from the Security Service of Ukraine and representatives of Kyivstar are investigating the cyberattack that has been causing mobile communications and other services to be down for more than 30 hours.

To avoid overloading the networks of other operators, at the request of the SSU, the National Center for Operational and Technical Management of Telecommunications Networks issued an order to temporarily block the national roaming service for Kyivstar subscribers.

“One of the Russian groups, whose activities are associated with the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (formerly GRU), claimed responsibility for the cyberattack. This once again confirms Russia’s use of cyberspace as one of the domains of war against Ukraine,” the State Special Communications Service said.

The National Coordination Center for Cybersecurity at the National Security and Defense Council urged citizens to remain calm and use Wi-Fi networks as much as possible, and public institutions to make their Wi-Fi networks available to all users.
