Apple has announced a significant expansion of language support for Siri AI, its revamped virtual assistant. This enhanced version is now rolling out to users in France, Japan, Korea, Portugal, and Spain, following the release of software update 27.2.
Siri AI represents a complete reimagining of Apple’s virtual assistant, emphasizing increased personalization, natural conversation, and a more individualized approach. Built on Apple Intelligence, it leverages a deep understanding of the user’s personal context to assist with information retrieval across messages, emails, photos, and more. With expanded system capabilities, Siri AI can now perform complex tasks, such as composing an email from scratch or editing and sharing photo collections.
A key feature is screen context awareness, allowing Siri AI to answer questions or execute actions based on the information currently displayed on the user’s screen. Furthermore, it can tap into its extensive world knowledge to provide up-to-date information on virtually any topic.
Apple intends to continue broadening Siri AI’s language reach. Support for Traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish, and Vietnamese is slated for addition by the end of the current year.
Availability
Apple Intelligence, with Siri and device language set to Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, or Vietnamese, is now available. However, certain features may not be accessible in specific regions or languages. Device availability may also vary by region.
Siri AI is currently available in beta within iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2, and visionOS 27.2. It requires a device compatible with Apple Intelligence, configured to a supported language. It is accessible in English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. Some functionalities might be restricted based on region or language.
Currently, Siri AI is not available in the European Union for iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS. Apple is actively engaged with the EU to find suitable solutions.
Siri AI is not available to users under the age of 13.
Certain Apple Intelligence features that rely on server-based models will have daily usage limits. This includes Siri AI, intelligent photo editing tools, Image Playground, and the AFM 3 Cloud models within Shortcuts. These daily limits can differ based on the feature, the complexity of the request, system load, system policies, and other factors. Extended access to these features is planned to be offered for an additional fee in the future. Usage of these features is governed by the terms of Apple Intelligence.
