ColorOS has unveiled its August update for ColorOS Watch, bringing a host of new features and optimizations to a range of OPPO and OnePlus smartwatch models. The update, which began rolling out on August 14th, introduces functionalities designed to enhance user experience, from health tracking to smart vehicle integration.
Key New Features in the August Update
One of the standout additions is the new sunshine duration tracking feature. This new tool not only records how long you’ve been exposed to sunlight but also provides an estimation of vitamin D synthesis, adding a unique health metric to the smartwatch’s capabilities.
For car enthusiasts, the update brings gesture and button control for BYD vehicles. Users can now quickly control their BYD cars using simple hand gestures or button presses directly from their wrists, offering a convenient way to interact with their vehicles.
Integration with the MG 07 model is also enhanced with new nap and sports linkage features. The watch will now provide vibration reminders when a nap ends, with an option to snooze for an additional 10 minutes. Furthermore, when starting a journey in the MG 07, the watch can detect the activity and activate the car’s ‘sport relaxation mode’, allowing for one-tap adjustment of air conditioning and other in-car settings.
Expanding its smart car connectivity, the update also adds support for keyless Bluetooth entry for the new Li Auto L8 model. This complements existing support for all previous Li Auto models, further solidifying the watch’s role as a car companion.
Convenience features extend to Alipay integration, with new fluid cloud service system notifications for EV charging reminders and parking reminders.
For those who frequently charge their devices, the update includes a new watch charging status synchronization feature. Users can now monitor their watch’s real-time charging progress through the OPPO Health device page or the ColorOS mobile device center.
Travelers will appreciate the new scenic spot weather search function, allowing users to check weather conditions for specific locations directly from their watch.
Personalization options have been significantly boosted with the addition of new watch face components. These include elements for body and mind status, daily/monthly achievements, sunrise/sunset times, workout duration, activity counts, and digital time, enabling more customized watch face arrangements.
The update also brings over 250 new official watch faces to the watch face market, featuring themes like ‘Seaside Holiday’, ‘Summer Harvest’, ‘Giant Number Moment’, and ‘Embrace Good Mood’.
In terms of app updates, the software store has welcomed new applications such as ‘LaiTe English’, ‘LaiTe Russian’, ‘AI Reading Partner’, ‘Silicon-based Dynamic Health’, ‘Little Habits’, and ‘Medicine Butler’.
User interface improvements include an optimized media control interface with real-time synchronized lyrics display and refined watch face update notification reminders to prevent disturbances during nighttime hours.
