YouTube is testing multiplayer mini-games

YouTube is experimenting with multiplayer mini-games in its collection of lightweight free games called Playables. Currently, Ludo Club and Magic Tiles 3 support multiplayer mode.

“We are starting to test a new multiplayer feature for a few selected games on YouTube Playables. Playables multiplayer allows you to play games in real time with other users,” the company said in a statement.

YouTube has been testing mini-games called “Playables” on its app and website for about a year now, and in May this year, it opened a free catalog of games for all users, limiting access to it only to premium users.

The video streaming service is constantly expanding its portfolio for Playables. At the moment, you get more than 130 games in categories such as action, arcade games, puzzles, words, racing, simulation, and sports games.

YouTube isn’t the only one using games to engage users – several platforms, including Netflix and LinkedIn, have added games to get people to use their platforms for more than just watching movies or interacting with posts.
