Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 hits the market earlier than expected

In July, Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi Mix Flip, its first flip phone. The device reportedly received positive reviews, prompting the brand to start developing its successor. If the new leak is to be believed, Mix Flip 2 will appear earlier than expected.

The Digital Chat Station leak suggests that Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 will debut in the first half of 2025. He added that high sales of the first-generation model prompted a major upgrade for the next edition.

The first-generation Mix Flip is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. According to DCS, the second-generation model will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. It will compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, which is likely to be the only Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered foldable phone on the market that works in a flip style.

Another post on Weibo by DCS states that the Mix Flip 2 will be equipped with wireless charging, a feature not available in the first generation. While the original model did not have an IP rating, the Mix Flip 2 is expected to have an IPX8 rating. In addition, it will be thinner and more versatile than its predecessor.

Back in August, the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 was spotted with model numbers 2505APX7BC and 2505APX7BG in the GSMA’s IMEI database. Despite the absence of the device’s name in the IMEI database, it is assumed that these model numbers correspond to the Chinese and global versions of the Mix Flip 2, respectively.

The EEC recently approved the global version of the Mix Flip 2, which indicates its upcoming entry into European markets. Unfortunately, apart from the chipset, nothing is known about the Mix Flip 2 yet. In China, some flip phones offer batteries with a capacity of around 4800 mAh. Given the recent trend toward larger batteries in flagship devices, it’s no surprise that Mix Flip 2 will feature a 5,000mAh+ battery.
