Xiaomi 15 series may enter the market earlier than expected

Popular Weibo user DigitalChatStation claims that Xiaomi is testing a new smartphone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. This new chip, developed by Qualcomm, is expected to be introduced in the upcoming Xiaomi 15 series. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 showcases Qualcomm’s fully self-developed architecture and reportedly has noticeable performance improvements.

According to the source, there are signs that mass production of the Xiaomi 15 series will begin in September. Xiaomi typically unveils its flagship smartphones in China at the end of Q4, which suggests a potential launch of the Xiaomi 15 series around November or December. With that said, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip is expected to debut earlier than usual this year, so there’s a chance we could see the Xiaomi 15 series launch earlier as well.

An earlier leak revealed that the Xiaomi 15 model will keep the 6.36-inch display like the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 14. The Xiaomi 15 Pro, on the other hand, will have a slightly curved display that will offer 2K resolution with bezels of only 0.6 mm. In comparison, the Xiaomi 14 Pro has 0.9mm bezels. The display will have a peak brightness of 1400 nits and energy-saving LTPO technology with a refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz, which can potentially save 15-20% of battery life. Other characteristics of the upcoming flagships are currently being kept secret. That being said, you can take a look at the Xiaomi 14 series specs and features to get an idea of what to expect from their successors.

Specifications of the Xiaomi 14 series:

The standard Xiaomi 14 is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0. It has a 6.36-inch flexible direct OLED screen with a resolution of 1.5K with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 3000 nits. The device is equipped with a 4610 mAh battery with support for 90W and 50W wired and wireless charging, as well as wireless reverse charging. The camera includes a 50MP Leica main camera, a 50MP Leica ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 75mm Leica floating telephoto lens.

The Xiaomi 14 Pro, powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, features a 4880 mAh battery and a 6.73-inch 2K AMOLED screen with a super visual sense with a resolution of 3200 x 1440. Mi 14 Pro supports 120W wired charging, 50W wireless charging and wireless reverse charging. It features a dedicated Sony LYT-900 image sensor and a 1024-stop variable aperture for enhanced images.
