Popular Weibo user DigitalChatStation claims that Xiaomi is testing a new smartphone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. This new chip, developed by Qualcomm, is expected to be introduced in the upcoming Xiaomi 15 series. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 showcases Qualcomm’s fully self-developed architecture and reportedly has noticeable performance improvements.
According to the source, there are signs that mass production of the Xiaomi 15 series will begin in September. Xiaomi typically unveils its flagship smartphones in China at the end of Q4, which suggests a potential launch of the Xiaomi 15 series around November or December. With that said, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip is expected to debut earlier than usual this year, so there’s a chance we could see the Xiaomi 15 series launch earlier as well.
An earlier leak revealed that the Xiaomi 15 model will keep the 6.36-inch display like the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 14. The Xiaomi 15 Pro, on the other hand, will have a slightly curved display that will offer 2K resolution with bezels of only 0.6 mm. In comparison, the Xiaomi 14 Pro has 0.9mm bezels. The display will have a peak brightness of 1400 nits and energy-saving LTPO technology with a refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz, which can potentially save 15-20% of battery life. Other characteristics of the upcoming flagships are currently being kept secret. That being said, you can take a look at the Xiaomi 14 series specs and features to get an idea of what to expect from their successors.
