A leak from the Chinese microblogging site Weibo has revealed the camera specifications of Xiaomi’s upcoming Pro flagship, the Xiaomi 15 Pro.
The phone will offer 3x 50MP cameras on the back, just like the Xiaomi 14 Pro. The phone will use OV50K as the primary sensor, IMX882 for 3x telephoto.
The OV50K sensor is said to have a diagonal of 1″. For comparison, Xiaomi 14 Pro offers a slightly smaller 1/1.31″ image sensor. Not much information is available about this sensor. However, the manufacturer recently released a smaller (1/1.31″) version of the sensor called the OV50K40, which the company says uses the power of lateral overflow integration capacitors (LOFICs) to deliver best-in-class high dynamic range (HDR) in single exposure regardless of lighting conditions. It reportedly achieves HDR levels at the level of the human eye with a single exposure in standard mode.
According to the leak, the telesensor performs comparatively worse than OV64b when it comes to clarity in digital zoom. However, he notes that the power consumption is very good. Xiaomi 14 Pro uses the Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor for 3.2x telephoto. Compared to its predecessor, switching to telephoto mode has reportedly improved. The telephoto lens aperture will also play an important role.
According to previous rumors, the Xiaomi 15 Pro will also get a square-shaped camera module in the upper left corner. However, the flash will be placed outside the camera island. This may be due to a lack of space. Lenses in front of the sensors may also be improved.
On the front, the phone will feature a 2K micro-curved screen with a resolution of 2K. The phone is expected to be launched around mid-October and will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. Although there is not much information about the upcoming Xiaomi 15 series at the moment, we will share it when it becomes available.
