Soon, you will be able to recharge your Volvo’s battery at more than 17,800 Tesla Supercharger stations in the United States and Canada. This will make it much easier for Volvo drivers to find a place to charge, even if they already have access to tens of thousands of fast charging points.
Starting November 18, drivers can find Tesla Superchargers via the Volvo Cars app or built-in Google Maps. You can also pay for charging through the Volvo Cars app.
There is one small caveat, however, especially if you’ve had your Volvo for a while: to access Tesla Superchargers and other North American Charging Standard (NACS) chargers, you’ll need an adapter. It costs $230 USD ($310 CAD) and can be ordered from authorized Volvo dealers. The automaker will start shipping them to retailers on November 18, but adapters for the EX30 will be available later. However, Volvo will include the adapter with the new flagship EX90, EX40 or EC40 SUV starting in the 2025 model year.
In June 2023, Volvo announced that it would support Tesla and NCAS superchargers. It is one of many automakers that have supported a more standardized approach to charging electric vehicles in North America.
