Vivo X Fold 3 leaked images with possible Mac integration

Vivo is reportedly working on its next line of foldable phones, the X Fold 3 series. While these devices have been rumored, a recent leak from Ice Universe revealed an interesting feature of these foldable phones.

The informant shared a set of images on Weibo that allegedly depict the Vivo X Fold 3. The device has prominent screen bezels and a perforated camera cutout on the right.

The standard volume and power buttons are split between the right and left sides, respectively. And, as expected, the device also has an external screen.

While these are the expected specs, something interesting that the leak showed is that the Vivo X Fold 3 displays the macOS interface.

Ice Universe suggests that the foldable phablet will be able to “remotely control a Mac”. Another Weibo user, WhyLab, confirmed the authenticity of the leaked images and also backed up Vivo’s Mac remote control feature.

Details are scarce, but if true, this feature could be a major draw for Apple users interested in sophisticated devices. It’s unclear how Vivo was able to implement this macOS-like experience – the feature could range from a simple Mac screen mirroring to more advanced controls.

Nevertheless, the functionality makes sense for a foldable device, as the larger screen of a foldable device will certainly be more conducive to multitasking than a regular smartphone.

In addition, a separate leak from Digital Chat Station reveals an update to the X Fold 3 display.

Samsung Display will reportedly supply the internal foldable screens for the X Fold 3 and X Fold 3 Pro with a higher resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels (compared to 1916 x 2160 in the X Fold 2). Likewise, the external display has a resolution of 2748 x 1172 pixels, compared to 1080 x 2520 pixels in the Fold 2.

In addition, DCS suggests that Vivo will use fiberglass in its foldable bodies, and the vanilla X Fold 3 will likely have a 5600 mAh battery.
