The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the USAID Project “Cybersecurity of Ukraine’s Critical Infrastructure” are launching a grant program totaling $500,000. Startups, developers, and companies can apply for creative cybersecurity solutions and receive funding to implement them.

Grants will be awarded to developers who offer the most effective cyber innovations. These solutions will not only help protect state information resources, but will also make a significant contribution to strengthening global cybersecurity.

More innovative solutions

“The world’s first cyber war is underway, and Ukraine is at the center of these events. The enemy is fighting not only on the real battlefield, but also in cyberspace. Every day, it attacks government organizations, authorities, and the commercial sector. We are effectively defending ourselves and responding to the enemy,” said Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology Mykhailo Fedorov.

According to him, we need more innovative solutions and technological products in the field of cyber defense. The USAID grant is an opportunity to implement our own solution that will help protect critical infrastructure and gain an advantage over the enemy in cyberspace.

IT Arena participants were the first to have the opportunity to pitch their ideas. One developer will be able to receive about $50,000 to implement an idea in the field of cyber defense.

USAID gives impetus

Ukraine has already proven its digital potential on the world stage. The U.S. Agency for International Development has decided to help Ukrainian startups turn innovative ideas into market-ready solutions that will amaze the world.

“I am proud that USAID and the Ministry of Digital Transformation will be able to give impetus to the best and brightest ideas in the field of cybersecurity. This will strengthen cybersecurity not only in Ukraine, but also around the world,” said Jim Hope, USAID Mission Director in Ukraine.

The program has been launched for a full year, until September 30, 2024. So all interested developers will have time to apply. All the conditions for applying and the required documents are available on the website.

Applications outside the geographic focus will not be considered. Applicants must demonstrate success in managing cultural and political considerations in the proposed country or region, as well as success in achieving the above development goals.

Grants will be awarded and implemented under USAID and U.S. Government grants in accordance with contractual provisions and internal Project grant management policies and procedures.
