Uber continues to invest in safety and announces the launch of free first aid training for drivers. Starting in October, the platform’s partner drivers will be able to register for the training directly through the Uber app. The program is being implemented in cooperation with the Soloma cats charity foundation.
The eight-hour trainings will combine two courses: Stop the Bleed (STB) and Basic Life Support (BLS). Drivers will learn how to quickly assess the condition of victims, stop bleeding and tamponade wounds, apply tourniquets and bandages, transport victims, ensure airway patency, conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation, use a defibrillator, and provide first aid for heart attacks, strokes, and choking.
“Today, in times of war, the ability to provide first aid is a critical skill that everyone should master. We are grateful to Soloma cats for starting our cooperation and hope that from now on, Uber rides will be even safer,” said Marcin Mochirog, Regional General Manager for Central and Eastern Europe at Uber.
“We want all Ukrainians to know first aid and carry a personal first aid kit. Unfortunately, driver training does not pay enough attention to practical training in first aid, and these skills are learned through practice. We are glad to cooperate with Uber, as more drivers will be able to save their own and passengers’ lives in a critical situation,” said Andriy Yerofeyev, Executive Director of the Soloma cats charity foundation.
By the end of the year, Uber and Soloma cats plan to organize training for 360 drivers who are partners of the platform. The 150 participants who diligently and successfully complete the course will also receive car first aid kits with the necessary equipment, including two SICH turnstiles.
