TikTok hasn’t crammed generative AI features into every corner of its app like Instagram’s Meta did, but the company is still experimenting with the technology in interesting – if somewhat disturbing – ways. Now TikTok is introducing a new AI feature that seems even more meme-worthy. It is called AI Alive and allows users to create short stylized video clips from static images.
Currently, this feature is only available for Stories on TikTok, so it’s designed for more ephemeral posts than what you would normally post in the app. You start by posting a still image to Stories (accessed from the app’s inbox) and select the new “AI Alive” option, which prompts you to “make this photo live.” TikTok will show you suggested tips, but you can also come up with your own.
