Mega-testing (for several weeks!) by the HiTech Expert team of Huawei ‘s wearable electronics continues exclusively, and this time it is the megahit Huawei Watch Fit 3.

It should be emphasized that the company understands the importance of long-term testing of its products, which allows us to “get to the bottom” of the smallest details and nuances of their functioning, to study and compare all the pros and cons, and to give the most objective assessment based on sufficient expertise and competence.

Huawei Watch Fit 3 - smartwatch with AMOLED and GPS

Today we review the Huawei Watch Fit 3 smartwatch, which has been mercilessly tested, as they say, “both in the tail and in the mane” for... many weeks.

Background of Huawei Watch Fit 3

As a reminder, today Huawei produces wearable electronics that include the Huawei Band fitness bracelet line and the smartwatch itself, which, in turn, are divided into GT (premium) and Fit (purely for fitness) categories.

The Fit 3 model is the company’s latest novelty in the Ukrainian market, which is popular among users.

At one time, the Huawei Watch Fit line appeared as a response to the needof customers for a device more functional than a fitness bracelet, but not as expensive as popular smartwatches.

The first Watch Fit had an AMOLED screen and a GPS module, and the next generation added a microphone and speaker to answer phone calls.

Reboot

Huawei Watch Fit 3 is a “reboot” of the line. First of all, it’s a design reboot. The slogan “Fashion Squared” indicates the presence of a modern, up-to-date design. It is the right choice for anyone who wants a rectangular smartwatch with a recognizable silhouette.

The device offers a number of improvements over its predecessor and is a serious competitor to other players in the wearable gadget market.

Many people notice the external similarity with a similar creation of the “apple” manufacturer. But that’s only on the surface. The “stuffing” is radically different.

Other updates to the Watch Fit 3 are also found in the Fit series for the first time: an aluminum case, a crown, etc. All this actually raises the lineup to a new level, closer to the Watch GT, and allows it to stand out from the competition.

Design of Huawei Watch Fit 3

So, first of all, let’s start with the design. The design is updated compared to the previous model. In my humble opinion, which by no means claims to be the truth in the last resort, rectangular displays look quite natural for smartwatches, as they provide the ability to place information to the maximum. “Round” displays are exclusively for conservatives who are used to watches being round.

It is the almost square display that is the external distinguishing feature of the Watch Fit 3, i.e., there is a transition from the elongated Fit 2 display to a more square one. This decision made it possible to increase the screen area and make the interface more informative.

So the design is elegant and strict. The gadget looks great with both sporty outfits and formal looks. For different events, you can simply choose the appropriate straps and watch faces, which can be selected from a dozen presets, or download new ones from the store (both free and paid are available). The assortment of paid ones (from 5.98 to 39.98 UAH) is rich, for every taste and color, as they say. based on your own preferences, you can download the ones you like the most. However, I would like to point out that the number of paid ones exceeds the number of free ones four times.

But in the end, everything is personally exclusive. Expensive, rich, and I’m not afraid of this word, beautiful.

Another significant plus is its compactness. The watch is quite light and compact, which provides comfort during everyday wear and even while sleeping.

Materials

I would like to note that the aluminum case (also a novelty of the model!) is made of high-quality metal, and the variety of straps allows you to choose a variant for any style. I should note that during the entire testing period I wore this gadget almost around the clock. I didn’t feel the watch on my wrist at all. There were no allergy triggers. The silicone strap is hyperallergenic.

The clasp is sporty, comfortable and does not rub your hand or press into it during the day. The watch is practically weightless on your wrist, and after a minute you stop feeling it. Comfort during the day is not as important as during sleep, it does not interfere with sleep, and for those who want to measure their sleep, this option is more suitable than any other, more massive watch.

So, the external differences from the FIT 2 lie primarily in the design of the case. It has become as optimal as possible, comfortable for use and reading information. It is both beautiful and convenient.

The firmware has been updated (during testing, the OS updatearrived twice – 5.0.0.15 is the latest version.) and now fully takes into account the features of the screen. The interface has been adapted to the square screen, which was not observed before. The fonts have become larger, which makes it easier to visually read information.

In addition, the watch’s excellent protective coating is worth noting. Not a single scratch appeared during the long testing period. This is certainly a testament to the high quality of the plastic coating.

Rigorous testing of Huawei Watch Fit 3

By theway, I started testing when the 2014 swimming season was coming to an end, but I still managed to swim. The watch has full water protection (IP68, 5 atm); you can dive, swim, in short, use it in the water, but without fanaticism. The watch is not afraid of shock loads, jets under pressure, for example, if you ride a jet ski or ski, fall into the water at speed.

I’d like to mention an interesting featureright away . After swimming, you need to shake out the water that has gotten into the watch using a special vibration-based function. For some reason, I can think of an analogy with a swimmer whose ear has water in it, and he tilts his head and jumps on one leg, using his finger in his ear to remove the water. However, there were no complaints about moisture protection during the test.

Specifications of Huawei Watch Fit 3

If you briefly run through the technical specifications, they are as follows:

  • The display is really bombastic: AMOLED 1.82 inches, with a resolution of 480×408 pixels and a density of 347 ppi. I especially like the deep black color. The brightness is excellent, there is an automatic brightness adjustment. 1500 nits at the peak, which allows you to read information perfectly even on a very sunny day. The colors on the screen are bright and vivid.
  • Processor: Huawei Lite A11 ensures stable performance and energy efficiency of the device.
  • Memory: 4 GB.
  • The HarmonyOS operating system provides smooth operation, a wide range of settings , and works perfectly with Android 8.0+/iOS 13+.

  • The smartwatch also has asingle-band GPS, five navigation systems; Bluetooth 5.2 (works as a headset), abuilt-in speaker and a microphone.
  • The battery is 400 mAh, typical operating time is up to 10 days, with AoD up to 4 days, an average of a week.

So, in reality, you need to focus on about seven days of work, which is a comfortable time. If you want your screen to work non-stop, then get ready to get 4-5 days of use. And this is a huge advantage over the Apple Watch, which needs to be charged much more often.

  • The full charging time of the watch is about 60 minutes, you can charge it from anything, either from the mains or from a computer (the only bad thing is that the cable (50 cm) has a USB Type A connector). And it’s not a wireless charger, so you’ll still need the cable, you can’t replace it.
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, optical heart rate sensor, pulse oximeter (SpO2), compass, ambient light sensor.
  • Dimensions: 43x36x9.9 mm.
  • Weight: 28 g without strap.

Functionality of Huawei Watch Fit 3

First of all, it ‘s about training, health monitoring , and calls. A very useful new feature is a warning about atrial fibrillation or extrasystole.

You can also install applications in the watch, though not many yet, but they are available. You can install something new and useful for yourself that is not in the basic version of the watch.

I especially liked that you can connect any external Bluetooth speaker to the watch.

You can also make calls and listen to music from the device , having previously replenished the database of numbers or tracks. The sound is loud and clear enough. There are also text response templates and even emoticons for communication.

Smart features: Smartphone notifications, music control, phone search, voice assistant support.

Health and fitness

Huawei Watch Fit 3 offers a wide range of health tracking features, including heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen levels, sleep phases tracking, and stress analysis.

Fitness tracking includes awide range of functions for tracking physical activity: running, swimming, various types of workouts(more than 100).

If you look at the base of the watch, you’ll see sensors that measure your heart rate and read other indicators.

You can adjust the brightness manually or set it to automatically adjust. You can also set everything in the settings so that the screen does not go out for five, ten, or twenty minutes.

By pulling the screen down, you can access the quick settings menu.

Scrolling to the right, you will see various menus showing the main components of the watch, demonstrating various settings.

On the left , you will see the smart assistant, where you can see the weather and the music control widget. It also displays up-to-date information, depending on what you are doing with the watch.

When you pull up from the bottom, you will see a notification.

Expert opinion

Huawei Watch Fit 3 is an optimal hybrid of a smartwatch and a fitness bracelet, offering a wide range of functions and a stylish design. It is suitable for both everyday use and training.

During the long testing period, the gadget proved to be a caring, but not particularly intrusive companion. The watch tactfully notified me that it was time for a workout, kept me constantly monitoring my main functions, and informed me about the quality of my sleep in the morning.

“Stay Fit” is a new calorie option. The branded “health clover” contains information on key parameters and clearly shows the infographics of the current day.

It is important that the stress level and heart rate are constantly monitored automatically. I really liked it. It is very useful that there is a fairly detailed weather forecast for the week and hourly.

Huawei Watch Fit 3 is a great choice for those looking for a stylish and functional smartwatch. The device offers an optimal combination of price and quality, as well as a wide range of functions for tracking health and physical activity.

Currently, the price has settled down and the gadget is sold from 4444 UAH.
