Substack brings new updates to live broadcasts

Over the past year, Substack has significantly expanded its video tools for creators, evolving from a platform that was primarily designed for newsletters. On Wednesday, Substack announced new features designed to help publishers grow and promote their livestreams.

The recent update allows creators to share clips of their livestreams on Notes, and Substack will notify them in real time of the performance. This way, publishers can determine which clips they should upload to other platforms, such as YouTube Shorts, to reach a wider audience. If creators connect their YouTube accounts, the top two clips will be uploaded to their Shorts channels.

The new feature is currently available in the iOS app and will be available on Android next week. Substack uses artificial intelligence to create short videos from videos.

In addition, when users schedule a live stream, Substack automatically creates promotional assets that can be shared on Notes, YouTube, and other social networks, saving publishers time and effort.

Another useful but small addition is the ability to invite guests via email or SMS, which is useful for subscribers who do not have a Substack account.

The new update comes just after Substack introduced live streams with audio and a scrolling video feed. Earlier this year, Substack rolled out live streaming capabilities to all publishers.
